NAME:
Erich

MY ROLE AT CPH:
Shipping & Receiving Manager

FAVORITE HAT STYLE:
Mid-profile trucker (R112+, 6606)

FAVORITE PATCH STYLE:
I go back and forth between woven and embroidered. Woven is great for detail, but nothing beats the classicDepends on the design; woven for detail, embroidered for a more classic patch look.

CLAIM TO FAME:
I’m likely the only person in the world who can truthfully say that I was punched in the face by a homeless person while driving to work. Who’s impressed?
I am also in possession of the most valuable object in the multiverse; a colorful bead necklace made by my daughter who, in the absence of letters required to spell “Daddy” opted for the next best option: “Farts”

YOU HAVE CONTROL OF THE OFFICE PLAYLIST- WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING?
Anything Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave, solo), DMB, STP (love the new singer), Pearl Jam, QOTSA, Tom Petty, CCR, Fat Freddy’s, Drop, Zeppelin, Eagles, Huey Lewis, Queen, Beatles, Foo Fighters, Desert Dwellers, Stevie Wonder, NOFX, Bad Religion, Jing Chi, Pantera, RATM, Alice In Chains, Dio, Sting, Muse, Peter Gabriel, Tool, Beach Boys, most Chopin, James Taylor, Live, Portishead, Morcheeba, RHCP, SRV, Gorillaz, Hugh Laurie, Incubus, Iron & Wine, Gary Clark Jr., Pink Floyd, Dax Riggs, CAKE, Ben Harper, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Alison Krauss……hey, does anyone know how to export Spotify playlists as a text doc? This is starting to feel like work.

THE OFFICE OR PARKS & REC
Parks & Rec

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE WORK?
When I’m not at work I like doing life with my wife and kids, playing music, PS5, reading, writing/journaling, “research” (YouTube), camping, movies/shows, giving 30 min presentations with no advance preparation

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
I grew up in San Diego, CA, and when I was in middle school I went through a klepto phase. My primary target; basketball trading cards from the local Payless Drugstore. I stored my growing collection of ill-gotten goods under the bathroom sink at my Oma’s house (German for grandma).

As it turns out, Oma frequented that cabinet more often than I accounted for. She found the cards and confronted me about them. I confessed that I stole them and begged her not to tell my mom. Then, in that way only the Oma’s of the world can, she made me feel safe and reassured that I could trust her. In my relief I overlooked the fact that she never actually committed to keeping my secret. Spoiler alert: she didn’t.
Fast forward a couple days. I’m riding in the car with my mom on the way to school when I suddenly realize we just passed our exit.
“Hey Ma, you missed the exit for my school.” Long pause.
“Oma told me about the basket ball cards.” Busted. That twisting thing dread does to my stomach happened and I froze up like a deer in the headlights. She knows. I’m busted. I’m totally busted.
Who or What inspires me the most?
Then, my mom said “I love you. I will always love you – no matter what you do – and I want you to know that. I want you to know that you can always come to me, you can always tell me what’s going on in your life, even if you did something wrong. I want you to know you can trust me.” Yeah right, I thought, I’ll keep that in mind during my inevitable 19 month grounding.
“So…where are we going?”
She looked me in the eyes and said the last 4 words I ever expected to hear in that moment:
“We’re going to Disneyland.”
My brain hitched, one eyelid twitching like that squirrel in Ice Age. DOES NOT COMPUTE, DOES NOT COMPUTE! Disneyland is a good thing. I did a bad thing. I deserve a bad thing. But a good thing is happening; actually, one of my favorite things in the world. What is that?!? Why am I crying right now even though I didn’t get whooped? Why is she smiling at me like that? And how can I be so certain that I will never steal anything for the rest of my life?
Who/What inspires me? I’ve got my list (Sylvia Zeigler is at the top), but really, anyone that endeavors to bring into the world more of whatever my mom showed me that day.
Also books.

PANCAKES OR WAFFLES?
Pancakes

WHAT COULD YOU GIVE A 30 MINUTE PRESENTATION ABOUT WITH NO ADVANCE PREPARATION
Pretty much any question anyone comes to me with (at least, that’s what they tell me my answers feel like)
The “reel it in” answer: The Big Five Aspects personality scale and potential benefits for early adoption in hiring practices, anything related to music, brevity

SOMETHING YOU LEARNED IN THE LAST MONTH?
You know that whole “what I think I know is never the whole picture so perhaps I should keep that in mind and proceed with a measure of humility; that or prepare for the dump truck of humble pie I just ordered” thing? Well, it’s still a thing. Not sure if that principle needed additional supporting evidence but I managed to generate more. I’m that good. You’re welcome science.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT CPH
I like very good hats. I like very good people. CPH has both. End of speech.
