It all starts with your vision and our team of designers. Once you submit a quote request, we pair you with an expert designer who works side-by-side with you, guiding every detail to ensure your idea comes to life exactly as you imagined. From picking the best patch style and highest quality gear to matching thread colors to your hat or apparel, we help you make thoughtful choices that elevate your design. Bringing Your Vision to Life: Production at CPH
Once your design is approved and your order is placed, we get to work pulling together everything we need: hats, apparel, accessories, patches, and all the little details that make your project shine. Our receiving team carefully unpacks and checks everything that comes in before it ever reaches production. If anything about your blank gear is not up to our standards, we will make it right before moving forward.
We take pride in our patch and embroidery proofing process. For fabric patches and direct embroidery, you’ll see digital photo proof of your decoration before we produce the full order. Leather, TPU, and PVC patches are photographed and sent your way for approval after they have been produced. If anything doesn’t match the mockup you approved with your designer before payment, we fix it before anything is stitched or pressed onto your gear. Throughout the process, a dedicated Product Coordinator ensures your vision stays true.
Once all supplies arrive at CPH HQ in Raleigh, our Production Coordinators prep everything for the stitch team. From our team sewing patches onto hats to heat pressing TPU onto apparel and embroidering tote bags, multiple sets of expert eyes make sure every detail is perfect, so the final product looks exactly as you imagined.
Our QC Process: The Last Stop Before You Can Wear It With Confidence
Once our production team finishes crafting your high quality hats and apparel, your order heads straight to our Quality Control (QC) department. We check for anything that might keep your hat from being perfect, including:
- Patch alignment and placement
- Color accuracy between fabric, thread, and decoration
- Stitching and embroidery consistency
- Stains or smudges
- Structural issues (warping, loose panels, bent brims)
If something is off, we’re not afraid to kick it back to the production team and get it fixed immediately. Most of the time, we catch and correct issues long before you ever know they happened.
Transparent Updates on Your Custom Project
On the rare occasion a fix delays part of your order, our client success manager will let you know right away and share options to ensure you still get what you need on time. You’re never left guessing. Once everything passes QC, your project is carefully packaged and shipped. You’ll receive a UPS email as soon as the label is created, so you know your order is on the way. If anything looks off, reach out right away and we’ll make it right.

How do you ensure patch alignment?
Every hat is checked against your approved design file. We use measurement tools and visual checks to confirm that placement is accurate, centered, and consistent across the entire batch.
Can I request specific color for my patch or direct embroidery?
Absolutely. Your CPH designer can help match your brand colors or a specific shade you have in mind. We carry a wide range of color options for our decorations, and if you share your brand colors or Pantone values, we will match them as closely as possible.
Will I see a proof of my design before production?
Yes! Before you pay for your order, you’ll approve a digital mockup with your designer. A few weeks into production, we send digital or photo proofs of your patch before full production begins. Fabric patches and direct embroidery are photographed before they go into full production, while leather, TPU, and PVC patches are photographed after they’re made. This lets you review your design and confirm it matches the approved mockup before anything is stitched or pressed onto your gear.
How do I care for my custom hats and apparel?
We build every piece to last, and with a little care, you can help your gear hold up as long as possible. For hats, avoid machine washing hats and use a damp cloth or gentle hand wash if needed. For apparel, turn items inside out, wash on gentle/cold cycles, and avoid overloading the machine. We’ll also include detailed care instructions with your order. Treating your gear well helps your designs stay vibrant and keeps your hats and apparel looking fresh, wear after wear.
If you’re hard on hats or work in tough conditions, cotton can fade or discolor faster. For durability, we recommend options like the R112WF with coated twill or full polyester performance hats that wick sweat and resist fading.
